Traction Alopecia
Traction alopecia is hair loss
that results from excessive pulling at the roots from brushing, curling
and straightening the hair.
It can also be caused by a
bad habit of pulling the hair.
Traction alopecia is very
often seen in younger girls that tie, plait or braid long hair. It
is also found in women that have hair extensions sewn in to very tight
corn rows or braids. The braids are done incorrectly, and the extra
weight of the extension hair causes the natural hair to pull out in these
areas.
The obvious treatment for
traction alopecia is to stop doing the things that cause it. |
